What information do we collect, and what do we do with it?

When you make an order, we need to know your name, a contact number, an email address and your delivery address too. We also need some payment information, but this is transmitted directly to our merchant bank and returned to us as a random string of characters; we never handle or store your payment card details. This means we can process and fulfill your orders, as well as keep you as updated as possible. If you enter a competition or some kind of other promotional feature, we may ask for similar information. If you opt in at any point, we may then contact you about services, website changes and special offers tailored to you. You can opt out by simply pressing "unsubscribe" on any newsletter.

How do we protect your information?

When you place orders, our secure server software (SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. Furthermore, as required by the UK Data Protection Act 1998, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose sensitive information to you.

Cookies

To ensure we comply with new regulations, we use a system of classifying the various cookies which we use on our website, or cookies which may have been dropped by third parties through our website. This is intended to provide you with information explaining what cookies we use, why we use them, and what functionality you will lose if you decide that you don't want to use cookies on your device. We are continuing to develop other privacy and cookie-related improvements to our website.

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive when you visit a website. Cookies are very useful as they allow a website to recognise a user's device. Our cookies do not contain any information which may identify you personally, but they do enable us to provide features such as pop-up message windows and other browser functions between visits. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your browser settings to prevent that. If you choose the latter option, you may be unable to access certain areas of the website. Unless you have altered your browser settings to refuse cookies, our systems will issue cookies when you visit our website.

Persistent cookies - these are cookies that remain on the user's device for a period of time that is specified by the cookie. They are activated each time a user visits the website that generated that particular cookie.

Session cookies - these allow the website provider to link the actions of a user during a web browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and terminates when the browser is closed. Session cookies are only created on a temporary basis and once the browser window is closed, these are deleted.

Cookies do a number of different jobs, such as:

  • To display our website content in the most efficient manner for your computer.
  • To provide information, products or services that you request from us, or that we feel may be of interest to you, where you have consented to be contacted.
  • To fulfill obligations arising from any contracts between us and our customers.
  • To facilitate participation in interactive features of our site, should you choose to do so.
  • To notify and inform regarding changes to our service.

Here is a list of the cookies you may find on our site, with an explanation of what they are

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies enable services that you have specifically asked for. For cookies that are deemed strictly necessary, no consent is required.

These cookies are essential in that they let you move around our website and use various features, such as accessing the secure areas of our website. Without these cookies, services that you have asked for (such as the shopping basket or secure billing), cannot be provided.

Performance cookies

These cookies collect anonymous information on the pages visited by the user. By using our website, you agree that we can place these performance cookies on your device.

Performance cookies collect information about how visitors use the website, such as which pages are visited most often or if any error messages are created by web pages. No information is collected that can identify a visitor. The information collected is aggregated and is completely anonymous, and the information is only used to improve the website's performance.

Using browser settings to manage cookies

The help menu on most browsers will tell you how to stop your browser from accepting new cookies, or how to get your browser to inform you when you receive a new cookie, or even how to disable cookies altogether. You can also disable or delete similar data used by browser add-ons by changing the settings or visiting the website of the providing company.

Be aware, though, that cookies let you take advantage of some of our website's essential features, and as such, we highly recommend that you leave them turned on. For example, if you block or reject cookies from our website, you will not be able to add items to your shopping basket or proceed to the checkout.

What if I do not accept cookies?

If you choose not to accept a cookie, you will not be able to purchase products via our website.

Disclosing your information

We will never disclose your information to anyone except where we have your explicit consent, or where we are required or permitted to do so by law, or to any successors in title to our business.

Other websites

Our website may contain links to other sites which are outside our control and as such, are not covered by this policy. The operators of these websites may collect information from you that will be used by them in accordance to their own policy, which may well differ from ours.

Behavioural advertising and online privacy

A guide to this has been produced by the internet advertising agency and can be found at www.youronlinechoices.eu. This website also provides you an opportunity to opt out of receiving online display advertisements tailored to your interests by our third party partners.

Changes to our policy

This policy replaces all previous versions and is correct as of November 2017. We reserve the right to change the policy at any time. Any changes will be posted to this page.
